Position: Continuing Education and Technical Assistance Unit Manager (03401)

Continuing Education and Technical Assistance Unit Manager

This position will serve as the unit manager for the Continuing Education and Technical Assistance (CETA) unit in the Student Support Services Department. The CETA unit manager works in coordination with the Special Education and Associate Special Education Directors to lead a team of specialists to support Montana educators and leaders to implement effective programs. This position is responsible for organizing, designing and overseeing the implementation of statewide professional development initiatives for local education agencies (LEAs) providing special education and related services to students with disabilities, gifted and talented, and early learning opportunities.

In addition to management activities, the CETA manager also coordinates, organizes and implements school improvement activities to ensure initiatives lead to effective outcomes for all students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Behaviors):

  • Knowledge of best practices for continuous professional development for special education teachers and support specialists.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instruction that meets various needs.
  • Knowledge of MTSS and implementation science.
  • Ability to design and deliver professional development.
  • Ability to write and manage federal grants.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, including IDEA
  • Ability to direct the work of others, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Skilled in effective leadership and teamwork skills, establishing, and maintaining working relationships with co-workers, technical personnel, diverse groups of professionals, and the public.
  • Ability to pool or combine ideas, efforts and experiences to improve innovation, efficiency, and performance of the unit.
  • Strong understanding/background in K-12 education;

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience ):

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or education.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in special education, general education, or related work.
  • A minimum of two years' experience managing professional staff.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered case-by-case.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or a related services field.
  • Experience providing technical assistance or professional development to educators or administrators.
  • Experience managing federal grants.

Salary: $34.81 Hourly
