Bus Assistant - Butte Head Start

Part-Time | Seasonal | Non-Exempt
24-28 Hours per Week

Every day at Head Start, we help children build the confidence, skills, and relationships they need to succeed in school and in life. Whether you're teaching in the classroom, preparing nutritious meals, supporting families, or ensuring children arrive safely each day, every role makes a difference.

As a Bus Assistant, you'll be one of the first smiling faces children see each school day. You'll help create a safe, welcoming, and caring environment where preschool children feel secure, supported, and ready to learn. If you enjoy working with young children and want to make a meaningful difference in your community, we'd love to have you join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely assist preschool children as they board and exit the Head Start bus.
  • Supervise children during transportation while helping maintain a safe, positive, and respectful environment.
  • Work closely with the bus driver to ensure student safety at all times.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families while representing Action Inc. professionally.
  • Help children begin and end each school day with encouragement, patience, and kindness.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work positively with preschool-aged children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependability and a commitment to child safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
