We are seeking a Professional Land Surveyor-Project Manager to join our team in Butte, MT. This role can also be located in our Helena or Bozeman office and will oversee the Survey team's work. Offering a blend of both office and field work with travel ranging from 50-75% within the region, this PLS will be responsible for conducting surveys, preparing maps and reports, and providing accurate data for engineering and construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of surveying techniques, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. The Surveyor will need to conduct field activities in all types of weather across varied terrain.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Conduct land surveys using various surveying equipment and technology, including GPS, total stations, and levels.
- Prepare and maintain accurate field notes, sketches, and survey reports.
- Analyze survey data to determine the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to provide accurate survey data for project planning and design.
- Oversee field and office survey teams, providing technical guidance, quality assurance and mentorship
- Perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) and Geospatial software to create detailed maps and plans.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Research legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries and areas to be surveyed.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members to address any survey-related issues or concerns.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Montana or ability to transfer/obtain a Montana license within an acceptable timeframe.
- 5+ years of experience managing survey projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and equipment (including GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software (such as Trimble Business Center or similar).
- Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel and databases
- Ability to lead and mentor field crews and office staff.
- Valid Driver's license
