Feignies is a French commune, located in the Nord department (59) in the Hauts-de-France region, on the Franco-Belgian border, in the territory of Avesnois. The commune, which is part of the Maubeuge urban unit, is located on the RD649, between Valenciennes and Jeumont. Member of the Maubeuge Val de Sambre Agglomeration Community, of which it constitutes its gateway coming from Valenciennes (34 km), the town of Feignies has 6,924 inhabitants.

The neighboring municipalities are:
La Longueville, Gognies-Chaussée, Maubeuge, Neuf-Mesnil and Vieux-Mesnil. Its area is 18.8 km². The relief of the commune, slightly hilly, is very marked by its hydrographic network: a series of watercourses of varying importance flow into the Flamenne (the river that takes its source and drains the communal territory), itself a tributary of the Sambre. This hydrographic network is present up to the heart of the city.

The territory is also marked by the strong presence of vegetation. The city is located at one of the gates of the Mormal Forest. The bocage mesh is very perceptible (prairies and hedgerows) and interspersed with parcels of culture. A sufficiently low relief accompanies a very extensive urbanization of rural origin. The dense city center is structured around the RD105.

The city of Feignies is marked by its industrial development on the outskirts of the old railway station, and on both sides of the railway line. The establishment of the "Grévaux les Guides" business zone to the south of the municipality is also a particularity of the communal territory, explained by the passage of the RD 649.
