Location:
Sweetgrass, MT or Norfolk, VA. Applicant can select one location.
- Use IT principles, concepts, and methods to support IT systems and services.
- Diagnose and resolve problems from customer incidents.
- Research, evaluate, and provide feedback on trends and patterns to support customer support requirements.
- Act as subject matter expert, provide IT guidance, solutions, and customer training.
- Install, configure, integrate, troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain hardware and software to maximize system availability.
- Monitor network performance and identify information system security requirements, ensuring application of security policies.
- U.S. Citizen, male born after 12/31/1959 registered with Selective Service, and have U.S. residency for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
- All pre‑employment processes in English; a background investigation will be conducted.
- CBP drug‑free workplace policy applies; drug testing procedures may be required.
Basic requirement: IT‑related experience demonstrating the following competencies:
Attention to detail, Customer service, Oral communication, Problem solving.
- GS‑11: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level performing duties such as: analyzing, planning, configuring network systems hardware; diagnosing and resolving network problems; testing, installing, configuring, and maintaining networks; evaluating new hardware and software technologies.
- GS‑12: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level performing duties such as: adjusting, modifying, and improving IT systems; diagnosing and resolving incidents on various platforms; installing, configuring, integrating, troubleshooting, monitoring network performance; providing guidance for migration activities.
- GS‑11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or 3 full years of graduate education leading to a doctoral degree; or a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, with at least 24 semester hours in these fields.
- Position may require 24/7 on‑call duty and uncontrollable overtime.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and working in electronics shop or remote sites.
