Overview
This is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires demonstrated expertise in plant operations and licensure to operate and maintain steam systems in the relevant municipality or state. Experience in a healthcare setting will be helpful.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the hospital's boiler and/or chiller systems. This includes performing water treatment on boilers, steam systems, chillers, and cooling towers, as well as maintaining and preparing these systems for inspections.
- Performs boiler and chiller teardown and major maintenance with help or supervision.
- Conducts activities for winterizing chillers and cooling towers, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC digital and pneumatic controls.
- Ensures the cleanliness of their working area and assigned locations.
- Has sound knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handling equipment, and other terminal HVAC devices.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure as a steam operator in the state or municipality where work is to be performed.
- Demonstrated abilities in plant operations and maintenance.
- A valid drivers license may be required for this position.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.

- Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; includes frequent computer, phone, and cable setup and use.
- Ability to lift and move equipment; may work on hands and knees, bend, and set up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights.
- For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle, see and read signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
- Bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, climbing.
- Use of hand and power tools; proper use of hearing and eye protection.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, confined spaces, and odors.
