Hiring for 2026/2027 School Year Position Summary

The Chemistry teacher shall be willing to teach Honors or other higher level Chemistry course while delivering rigorous instruction and adhering to high academic standards. The teacher will actively collaborate with the Chemistry team regarding instruction, pacing and assessment. In this capacity, you will develop students' skills and competence by teaching the basic principles of chemistry and how it relates to our environment.

They will develop students' skills, knowledge, and abilities in the study of atoms, molecules, bonds, equations and the periodic chart. The Chemistry teacher will also develop the fundamentals of physics such as problem‑solving as it relates to mechanics, sound and electrical energy.

Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Teach knowledge and skills in the area of Chemistry in accordance with district curriculum
  • Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis in the application of science in the solution of practical problems
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, that challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction
  • Design learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence, including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities
  • Instruct students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment and chemicals
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs
  • Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
  • Maintain familiarity with district and Arkansas State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
  • Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
  • Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment, maintain inventory records, and ensure equipment is in good working order
  • Adhere to all District policies and the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding the education of students
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Certification / License
  • Must have 7‑12 Physical Science, Chemistry, or Physics endorsement on teaching certificate
  • Successful completion of all background checks

Contract Days: 190
