Job SummaryThe Technician/Night Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing night shift production operations while serving as the primary technical resource for production personnel. This position operates and troubleshoots manufacturing equipment, coordinates production activities, maintains quality standards, and ensures safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations throughout the shift.
PurposeThe Night Shift Technician/Lead is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production during the night shift. This position serves as the primary technical and operational resource for production personnel and is responsible for troubleshooting equipment, coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring quality, and communicating shift performance.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate night shift production operations.
- Set up and prepare machines for production, including calibration, tooling changes, cleaning, and adjustments.
- Monitor, control, and adjust machine settings to optimize performance and production output.
- Inspect products using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other quality inspection tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine, tooling, and process-related issues during production.
- Monitor machine output and identify defects, non-conformances, or process deviations.
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of production, quality checks, downtime, and scrap.
- Complete activity logs and shift reports.
- Coordinate maintenance activities and communicate equipment concerns to management.
- Train and assist operators in proper machine operation and quality procedures.
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Meet or exceed established production, quality, and efficiency targets.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in manufacturing technician, machine operator, or production lead role.
- Working knowledge of high-speed manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of quality control principles and inspection methods.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all health and safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical school certification or degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience required.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Ammunition manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Frequent operation of manufacturing equipment and machinery.
- Ability to transfer materials between machines and workstations.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Pay: Competitive compensation based on experience, plus a 15% night shift differential.
Schedule: Night Shift, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM, four days per week (4/10 schedule). Hours may vary based on production requirements and business needs.
