Job SummaryReporting to the Feeder Operations Manager, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, tooling, tuning, and testing vibratory feeder bowls and related feeding systems used in automated manufacturing. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude.
PurposeThe Night Shift Technician/Lead is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production during the night shift. This position serves as the primary technical and operational resource for production personnel and is responsible for troubleshooting equipment, coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring quality, and communicating shift performance.
Duties and Responsibilities- Fabrication and assembly
- Build vibratory feeder bowls from drawings, layouts, samples, or verbal instruction.
- Install and fabricate tooling components
- Weld, grind, drill and fit steel components
- Apply coatings (polyurethane, nylon, or customer-specified finishes)
- Tuning and Testing
- Tune vibratory bowls for optimal frequency and amplitude
- Test feeders with customer parts to achieve required orientation and feed rate
- Adjust tooling to eliminate jams, doubles, and misfeeds
- Reduce noise, part damage, and vibration transfer
- Troubleshooting and Optimization
- Diagnose mechanical, vibration, and part-flow issues
- Modify tooling to improve performance and reliability
- Work to refine designs and resolve challenges
- Integration and Support
- Assist with feeder integration into automation systems
- Install sensors, air components, and escapements
- Support factory acceptance testing
- Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in:
- Welding (TIG preferred)
- Hand and power tools
- Precision measuring tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and layouts
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Commitment to quality
- Ability to work well in a team
- Possess a high school degree or an approved GED.
- Prolonged periods standing, bending, grinding, welding & working in a shop environment.
- Manual dexterity for precision work.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
