Market Manager – Overview

Deliver more than is expected to customers and associates by creating a positive first impression, identifying actual needs, providing real solutions, adding value, and supervising the store to leave customers satisfied so that no competitor becomes acceptable.

Responsibilities
  • Meat Department Operations – Manage department readiness, staffing, supervision, price maintenance, policies and procedures, inventory preparation, financial goals, cleanliness, and safe use of equipment and tools.
  • Replenishment & Inventory Procedures – Handle ordering, receiving, invoicing, accounting, back‑stock, reclamation, returns, damages, reworks, and inventory preparation.
  • Merchandising & Sales Floor Standards – Maintain proper stocking, rotation, signage, displays, sampling, and overall department procedures.
  • Fresh Food Preparation & Production – Ensure food‑safety standards, preparation requirements, cool standards, and service counter operations.
  • Risk Management/Avoidance – Monitor, manage, and take immediate action to mitigate employee, customer, and equipment safety risks, ensuring compliance with safety programs and training.
  • Adaptability – Adjust readily to changing conditions and maintain flexibility in the workplace.
  • Coaching/Mentoring – Build people by providing resources, coaching, and support, encouraging risk‑taking and learning from mistakes.
  • Conflict Resolution – Facilitate resolution among staff, balancing competing priorities and ensuring agreement.
  • Problem Solving – Define issues clearly and use critical thinking and logic to develop organized solutions.
  • Providing Direction – Set clear priorities, roles, and expectations; assign responsibilities for tasks and decisions.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year experience in a retail grocery store preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and rapid change.
  • Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions.
  • Moves, lifts, carries, and places merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent overhead and below‑knee work, including pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting with or without weight. Occasionally required to climb and/or crawl.
  • Stands and/or walks continuously throughout shift.
  • Visually locates merchandise and other objects, often in small print.
  • May be exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, inside work with heat, cold, dust, and humidity.
  • May be exposed to cleaning solvents or other chemicals.
  • May be exposed to latex, eggs, nuts, soy, and wheat.
  • Employment contingent upon completion and evaluation of a PEP survey, drug screen, employment reference check, and criminal background check.
