Senior Buyer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr Buyer on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing company, to join their materials team. This is a direct hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing sourcing activities, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services to support production and supply chain operations. This role requires a strong understanding of ERP systems, materials management, and supply chain processes to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.

The Sr Buyer will play a critical role in maintaining supplier relationships, overseeing procurement strategies, and supporting overall business objectives.

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for various categories of materials and services, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements while maintaining quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production planning, logistics, inventory management, and merchandising to forecast needs and coordinate supply chain activities.
• Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory control measures to prevent shortages or excess stock.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers or alternative sourcing options that offer cost savings or improved quality.
• Oversee material commodities documentation, ensure compliance with company policies, and maintain accurate records of transactions.
• Support supply chain management initiatives including logistics coordination, demand planning, and vendor performance evaluation.
• Utilize data from ERP systems such as Materials Management modules to analyze trends in pricing, demand forecasts, and supplier performance for continuous improvement.

• Strong knowledge of materials management principles such as MRP (Material Requirements Planning), inventory management, and inventory control.
• Experience with sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and procurement best practices.
• Familiarity with supply chain management concepts including logistics, production planning, and merchandising.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to establish mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
• Ability to analyze data related to pricing trends, supply chain metrics, and vendor performance to inform decision-making.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of e-commerce platforms related to procurement processes is a plus.
