Controls Engineer
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automation and control systems within a manufacturing environment. This individual will work closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, safety, and overall plant performance.
Responsibilities:- Design electrical control systems, including schematics, panel layouts, and component selection.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems.
- Support new equipment installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot controls-related equipment issues and provide technical support to maintenance and production teams.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase equipment uptime, efficiency, and safety.
- Manage controls documentation, including electrical drawings, PLC backups, and system records.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and contractors on controls-related projects.
- Train maintenance and operations personnel on new equipment and system functionality.
- Follow all safety standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of industrial automation, electrical controls, robotics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools.
- Preferred Experience:
Automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience. Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and equipment optimization. Familiarity with machine safety standards and industrial networking.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cadillac, MI.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
