Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Scots dales, Great Shelford, we’re looking for an experienced and energetic Front of House Manager to join our brand-new café, which opened its doors in June 2025. With 550 seats, a team of 70 Front of House staff, and 6 direct supervisory reports, this is an opportunity to shape the culture, standards, and guest experience of a large, fast‑paced hospitality environment from the ground up.

This role reports directly into the Café Manager, who will in turn support and guide your growth and progression within the business. It’s an ideal next step for an ambitious Manager from a smaller venue or an Assistant Manager from a larger hospitality setting looking to take on more responsibility and scale.

Main Duties

Lead a large Front of House team across a busy 550‑seat café.

Train, mentor, and develop 6 Supervisors, ensuring consistent operational standards.

Coach team members on service excellence, efficiency, and guest engagement.

Operational Management

Maintain a strong presence on the floor—this is a physically demanding role in a large, high‑footfall environment.

Oversee daily service delivery, ensuring smooth operations from open to close.

Manage customer interactions, including resolving complaints with confidence.

People Management

Lead on recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of FOH staff.

Take responsibility for managing attendance, lateness, absence, and performance concerns within the team.

Support a positive, motivated, and accountable team culture.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure all operations meet health and safety standards.

Support supervisors in maintaining a safe working environment for staff and guests.

Guest Experience

Champion outstanding service, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and impressed.

Confidently host large groups and interact with guests in a warm, engaging way.
