- Provide quality comprehensive care for student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses, and assist with injury rehabilitation using established protocols for injury/illness referral, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play. The athletic trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physician referrals and/or follow-ups.
- Attend all home athletic contests as required for the purpose of providing training services prior to, during, and after events and games for both home and visiting teams.
- Conduct hours, providing services to student-athletes prior to, during, and following practices.
- Arrange (when needed) physicals for student-athletes and teams at on site health clinic.
- Maintain and submit all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries, treatment, and care.
- Maintain a daily treatment log.
- Communicate regularly with athletic/coaching staff regarding care and treatment of injuries.
- Provide a comprehensive Concussion Protocol.
- Aid the coaching staff in the construction and implementation of injury prevention programs, as well as, evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods.
- Assist in the fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads, or braces.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Oversee and maintain athletic trainers’ room and equipment.
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic trainer room and provide the Athletic Director with an annual request for supplies and equipment needed.
- Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college, university, or athletic program
- Athletic trainer licensure in Illinois
- National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification
- Ability to travel to assigned work locations
- Basic computer skills and experience with documentation
