Heavy Equipment Craftsman

Summary

Primary function of Heavy equipment operator is to operate multiple types of heavy equipment. Large loaders, excavators large and small, motor grader, scraper, bulldozer, boom mower, vibratory packer, large tractor and implements.

• Responsible for operating equipment under the standard work instructions provided in training.
• Responsible for operating equipment in a safe environment.
• Performs daily check list on equipment being used.
• Maintains roads, ditches, and other grounds across nursery.
• Expert use of tractor, loader, motor grader, scraper and bulldozer
• Experience with excavator and excavating skills
• Ability to use laser equipment to establish appropriate grades and elevations.
• Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned

• Expert use of tractor, loader, motor grader, scraper, and bulldozer
• Experience with excavator and excavating skills.
• Basic maintenance skills for tractor, loader and other heavy equipment
• The ability to follow instructions and ask questions for better understanding.
• The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse work force and serve as a positive influence; cooperative, receptive to feedback, willing to learn.
• Reports to work daily and on time; accountable for timeliness in projects, meeting goals.
• The ability to see what needs to be done and accomplish work with minimum supervision.
• The willingness to engage in conversations on process improvement.
• Knowledge of techniques, skills, equipment and materials related to the job is of advantage.
• The ability to operate equipment in a safe manner, adhere to all workplace and safety policies and report unsafe conditions.

• 2-3 Years experience in Heavy equipment operation.
• Certification preferred.

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds repeatedly and 50+ pounds occasionally.
• Involves heavy lifting, pulling, or working in awkward positions or lying on back on auto mechanic’s “creeper,” working beneath vehicles.
