Summary/Objective

The primary function is operating over-the-road tractor-trailers and 26’ box trucks to move merchandise.

The secondary function will be operating equipment such as (Front-end loaders, Skid Steer loaders, Excavators regular and Mini, Backhoes, Dozers, Motor scrapers, and large tractors with attachments.)

Essential Functions
  • Unloads or assists in unloading the trailer by using a forklift or hand truck.
  • Maintain a detailed log of trips.
  • Operate a semi-truck with one trailer, according to state laws. Transports load over the required route to the proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Chocks block the rear wheels of a truck or trailer before any unloading takes place.
  • Removes chock brocks before driving away from the shipping dock.
  • Obtains shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and returns completed paperwork to the shipping office. Maintains any related records required.
  • Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking daily oil, water, gasoline, and air in tires. Reports any maintenance malfunctions to the Facility Maintenance Coach.
  • Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor-trailers and in preventing damage to materials and trailer equipment.
  • Frequently sitting in a trailer cab for extended lengths of time.
  • Must secure loads after each stop to avoid damage to plants.
  • Walking, lifting to 50 lbs., bending, squatting, reaching, pulling and pushing.
  • Abide by the hour’s restrictions and advise Coach otherwise.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet departmental requirements.

Work Environment
  • Work outdoors while loading and unloading goods. Work indoors while driving or filling out paperwork. Indoor temperatures may not be controlled.
  • Are often exposed to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust.
  • Are occasionally exposed to whole-body vibration when driving a truck.
  • Sometimes deal with sounds or noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Work close to others, especially when unloading trucks.
Physical Demands

  • The craftsman is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle plants or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • The craftsman is required to sit, stand, and walk; occasionally include standing, walking, lifting (50lbs), squatting, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • 40+ hours per week.
  • May workdays, evenings, or weekends.
Required Education And Experience
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history, and motor vehicle record review.
  • Hold a current Class A Commercial Driver's License.
Preferred Skills
  • Must have good basic math, reading, and writing are preferred.
  • Ability to follow accurate verbal and written instructions.
