The Wilderness Program Director is responsible for directing and supervising camp programs and providing direction and leadership for the summer staff. The Program Director should focus on three main elements – God, Safety, Fun. The Program Director is tasked with implementing the mission and vision of camp.

• Responsible for submitting essential records (such as NOC's, staff discipline notices, invoices, statistics and seeker forms, etc.) to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
• Assist in the responsibility for the spiritual growth of the camp staff and campers.
• Plan and implement camp programs with the assistance of the Wilderness Leadership team and following the direction of camp leadership.
• Lead and facilitate outdoor recreation activities such as swimming, hiking, mountain biking, bouldering, camping, etc.
• Inspire a passion for outdoors and nature.
• Schedule daily and weekly duties for Head Cabin Leaders and Cabin Leaders.
• Schedule and attend daily staff meetings.
• Be available for campers and staff consultation.
• Work with the Head Cabin Leaders for staff devotional meetings.
• Deal with discipline problems of campers and staff with direction from the Camp Director, Program Director and/or DYS as required.
• Assist in the all-camp first day registration process and lead/organize the last day procedures.
• Organize the clean‑up of camp after each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
• Maintain a high standard of personal Christian living as a role model for campers and staff.
• Attend and actively participate in Staff Orientation and staff meetings.
• Oversee and maintain safety and health standards within the program.
• Support and enforce camp policies and practices.
• Show flexibility in programming that accommodates different camp populations.
• Communicate with parents and Corps in event of camper issues and concerns.

May be asked to use fire protection equipment, washers and dryers, special programs and recreational equipment. May be asked to drive camp vehicles or golf carts. Should be proficient in computer skills and word processing. Individual should be comfortable being active throughout the day. This can include standing for periods of time, light lifting (up to 50 lbs), walking around camp, and participating in outdoor activities like hiking or basic climbing.

The role also involves using hands‑on skills for camp equipment and activities, along with typical hearing and vision abilities needed to help supervise and support campers. Camp life exists within nature and is an overnight program. Leaders live on site, work a full day schedule, and work with simple but comfortable facilities. Days often include sun, warm weather, and occasional encounters with typical outdoor wildlife.

$500 per week

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum 2 years camping experience.
• Ability to exercise confidentiality.
• Ability to relate to one's peer group.
• Ability to provide supervision and guidance to peers.
• Ability to teach several activities.
• Good character, integrity and adaptability.
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self‑control.
• Previous counseling experience essential.
• Current CPR and First Aid certified.
• Must possess proven leadership and organizational skills.
• Interest in and ability to work with children.
• Personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ.
• Ability to plan, originate, organize and carry out daily and special programs.
• Valid driver's license and willing to complete TSA driver training.

• Ability to communicate, participate and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
• Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior‑management techniques.
• Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards.
• Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Current CPR and First Aid certified (required). Minimum 2 years camping experience (required). Must be at least 21 years old (required).

Driver's License (required).
