Dyna Chrg is seeking a Senior EV Charging & Energy Systems Engineer to lead the technical evaluation, onboarding, validation, deployment, and operational support of commercial AC Level 2 and DC fast-charging equipment within the EVES™ platform.
This role owns the charger-facing side of EVES: EVSE hardware and firmware, charging communications, OCPP and CSMS connectivity, interoperability testing, charger networking, commissioning, OEM coordination, and production troubleshooting.
The successful candidate has real hands‑on experience working with commercial EV charging equipment and understands how chargers operate in the field - from installation and commissioning through backend communications, charging transactions, remote commands, metering, firmware, and ongoing operational support.
Key Responsibilities EVSE Equipment Evaluation and OEM Onboarding- Evaluate commercial AC Level 2 and DC fast-charging equipment for compatibility with Dyna Chrg's EVES platform.
- Review charger hardware, firmware, electrical interfaces, connector configurations, networking capabilities, metering, payment options, security features, and operating capabilities.
- Develop and maintain technical requirements for approved EVSE manufacturers and charger models.
- Lead the technical onboarding process for new charger OEMs, charger models, and firmware releases.
- Define required firmware versions, charger configurations, network settings, security parameters, and backend requirements.
- Maintain an approved EVSE hardware, firmware, and interoperability compatibility matrix.
- Work directly with charger OEM engineering teams to resolve equipment, firmware, configuration, and communication issues.
- Participate in charger selection and technical approval processes for Dyna Chrg projects and customers.
- Lead the technical integration of EVSE equipment with Dyna Chrg's EVES platform and Charging Station Management System.
- Configure, validate, and troubleshoot charger communications using OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1.
- Validate charger registration, authorization, status notifications, charging transactions, meter values, remote commands, diagnostics, fault reporting, firmware updates, and smart-charging functions.
- Review and analyze OCPP messages, charger logs, backend telemetry, protocol traces, and network captures to identify root causes of integration issues.
- Identify charger‑specific protocol deviations, configuration limitations, and interoperability constraints.
- Document known issues, approved workarounds, required firmware versions, and OEM escalation paths.
- Support integrations involving ISO 15118 / Plug & Charge, OCPI, payment systems, cellular connectivity, and other EV charging interfaces as applicable.
- Develop and execute charger qualification, acceptance, interoperability, regression, and production‑readiness test plans.
- Perform lab validation before approving new charger models or firmware versions for deployment.
- Validate charger behavior against Dyna Chrg requirements, OCPP standards, customer needs, and applicable industry requirements.
- Coordinate technical testing with charger manufacturers, software teams, test laboratories, certification organizations, and technology partners.
- Support test automation, protocol validation tools, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and repeatable EVSE qualification processes.
- Maintain technical test evidence, issue logs, acceptance criteria, and qualification records.
