Normal Work Hours and Days: A normal work day consists of 10-12 hours possibly longer depending on workload. Hours and start time will vary depending on workload. Night shift work required as needed.

SummaryThe construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects. The position operates a variety of hand and power tools and cleans and prepares sites, digs trenches, sets braces to support the sides of excavations, erects scaffolding, cleans up rubble and debris, and removes waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers.
Essential Functions- Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in mining/heavy construction projects
- Operates light machinery and equipment/hand tools as required in a safe and efficient way.
- Operates basic hand tools such as saws, shovels, rakes, etc.
- Operates basic power tools such as plate compactors, cement mixers, etc.
- Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Provides manual labor assistance on various tasks and assignments
- Uses hand‑held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
- Complies with Company and customer policies and procedures
- Ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
- Helps identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Disposes of garbage according to set policies and procedures
- Reports any damage immediately to supervisor

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably be able to perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or ExperienceMinimum:
- A valid driver license
- 6 months of prior experience as a laborer on remote construction
Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three or more years’ experience as a laborer on remote construction
- MSHA certification
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain equipment and follow related procedures
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
- Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently or as a team member successfully
- Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Ability to meet project schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to wear protective clothing
