Learning Societies are small groups of Prep:
Online students who school together in a central location. The Caldwell Learning Societies are located at The Pitch Indoor Soccer Facility.
The Gem Prep Learning Society Leader is a unique role. Leaders support and coach a group of 20-40 students in their coursework through Gem Prep Online. They also serve as the primary support and coach for paraprofessionals (depending on enrollment) under their supervision.
They will be responsible for helping middle school and high school scholars be successful in their classes, including practicing and completing assignments, all while creating a safe and positive learning environment. The Learning Society Leader must be committed to strong student outcomes and nurture educational excellence in a non-traditional learning environment. They will work closely with Gem Prep Online teachers and parents to ensure scholars are able to complete their work in a timely and successful manner.

Teacher certification is required. Preference will be given to secondary licensed teachers in Math, English, or Science. Certified teachers will be paid on the Gem Prep teacher pay scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Act as a liaison between The Pitch leaders and Gem Prep.
- Create and modify (as necessary) daily routines and structures that promote academic excellence and the development of key competencies in each scholar.
- A typical day will consist of supporting students from 7:30 - 12:30 in live lessons and coursework. 12:30 - 4:00 will consist of supporting students in small group interventions, one-on-one tutoring, working with parents, and other duties. (Schedule is subject to change)
- Support The Pitch parents and scholars and answer academic-related questions.
- Be able to provide one-on-one support to secondary students in core content areas.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Learning Society Administrator.
- Help establish a culture of academics over athletics among families and students.
- Capable of fulfilling all staff roles within the LS, the leader will step in as staff substitute or additional support for either of the LS’s, as necessary.
- Work with the Learning Societies Administrator to create and follow a daily schedule that accommodates families and facilitates academic success.
- Provide academic feedback to Gem Prep Online teachers for students' strengths and weaknesses.
- Provide a safe learning environment in a Gem Prep Online space.
- If applicable - Coach and support Learning Society Partner Teachers through weekly one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Serve as the first line of communication between parents and the learning society. The first person responsible for behavior management and discipline within the Learning Society site.
