Member Services Rep – Full Time – Afternoon/Evening

FLSA Status:
Hourly Non‑Exempt

Reports to:

Club Manager / Assistant Club Manager

• Day and evening MSRs must submit to a National Sex Offender Registry search. Continued employment will be based on satisfactory outcome of the background check.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED Certification within required time frames and be able to perform CPR/AED in an emergency.
• Must obtain Tanning Certification within required time frames.
• This position requires on‑site work.

The Member Services Representative (MSR) is the first point of contact for members and guests. This position provides exceptional customer service, handles membership inquiries and transactions, and helps maintain a clean, comfortable, and friendly “Judgement Free Zone®” environment. The MSR ensures a positive member experience through friendly and professional interactions, prompt support, and a strong understanding of club culture, policies, and procedures.

• Greet members, prospective members, and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Create a positive club experience by providing outstanding customer service.
• Respond to member questions and concerns promptly and courteously.
• Assist members with account inquiries, changes, and billing questions.

• Provide information about Planet Fitness memberships and amenities.
• Assist potential members with tours and sign‑ups.
• Promote and explain current membership specials and upgrades (e.g., Black Card).
• Meet or exceed membership and customer service goals.

• Check members into the system using the club’s POS system.
• Answer phones professionally and efficiently.
• Process new memberships, cancellations, and payments accurately.
• Follow opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Respond promptly and professionally to members’ questions and concerns and inform Assistant Manager or General Manager if any issues arise.

• Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the club by performing assigned cleaning duties throughout the shift.
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the facility, including restrooms, locker rooms, and workout areas.
• Ensure weights are returned to appropriate rack areas.
• Regularly walk the floor to ensure the club remains clean, organized, and safe.
• Refill cleaning stations and supplies as needed.

Required:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work onsite; this is not a remote position.
• Upbeat, professional, and positive attitude with strong work ethic.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Professional, respectful, and solutions‑oriented in member and employee interactions.
• Commitment to cleanliness and creating a positive member experience.
• Ability to learn and apply company cleaning practices, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Obtain and maintain CPR/AED Certification within required time frames.
• Obtain Tanning Certification within company‑required time frames.

Preferred:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience working in a club fitness setting.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safety standards.

Environment:
Indoor; exposure to noise, dust, cleaning chemicals, and gym equipment.

Physical:
This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, twisting, repetitive hand movement, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be required. The candidate must be able to perform CPR and operate equipment as needed, and to communicate in person or on the phone.
