Position: Deputy Sheriff Marine Safety - SEASONAL (Sheriff's Office)
This position is SEASONAL, during the period of April 15th - September 15th.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Associates or Bachelor's Degree
Military Experience
Five (5) years employment history post high school

Wage: $18.00/Hour

General Statement of Duties
Performs general duty police work in assigned area of Sheriff's office enforcing state and local laws and ordinances; performs related work as required.
Classification Summary
The principal function of an employee in this class is to enforce state and local boating laws and ordinances, perform public safety duties. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Sergeant and working supervision of a Corporal; some latitude is granted to the employee but work is subject to periodic performance audits and annual evaluations. Some assignments are subject to stringent State and local guidelines.

The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment and/or an outdoor environment that includes exposure to adverse weather conditions and to potential personal danger.
Examples of Work (Illustrative Only)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Enforces state and local laws and ordinances in assigned area of Sheriff's Office;
Uphold Idaho laws;
Responds to calls in area of assigned duty and takes appropriate action;
Prepares reports, activities performed, and unusual incidents observed in a timely manner;
Encounter hazardous incidents, vehicle accidents, and deaths;
Verbally interacts with witnesses and victims, suspects, and the public to obtain information;
Performs relevant law enforcement activities, and public safety inspections;
Performs crowd control, traffic control, public information, and related duties during community events, celebrations, and related activities;
Presents testimony and evidence in court and other legal proceedings;
Maintains, cleans, and cares for County-issued equipment and vehicles;
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County and Office policies, procedures and safety practices.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

May serve in other specialized areas such as community services, field training, or other assignment;
Works non-traditional hours; shifts are staffed 24/7 and must be available weekends and holidays;
Performs other related duties as required.

Methods, objectives, and procedures of court proceedings;
Officer safety skills;
Standard first-aid administration;

Police equipment, including vehicles, communications units, and other related equipment;
Crime prevention and education techniques.
