Facility Maintenance, Cleaning Services
Performs a variety of tasks to assure proper cleaning and routine maintenance of city facilities.
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform facility maintenance and cleaning functions. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor. This position requires the exercise of independent judgment, time management and initiative in successfully performing assigned duties. The principal duties of this class are performed in an indoor and outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions.
Work duties are primarily performed before and after normal business hours. Schedule will generally be 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday but may vary if business needs require.

- Sweep, mop, buff, scrub, and vacuum floors of buildings, using cleaning solutions, tools, and equipment.
- Clean and polish walls, ceilings, windows, equipment, and building fixtures, using cleaning equipment, scrapers, brooms, and a variety of hand and power tools.
- Empty and clean waste receptacles.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize restroom sinks and bowls.
- Vacuum and spot clean carpets, entry rugs, and mats.
- Mix and utilize chemicals to perform specialized cleaning functions.
- Perform general facility security checks, such as checking door locks and other systems for proper operation.
- Clean debris and snow from doorway entrances.
- Perform miscellaneous seasonal or periodic custodial duties.
- Requisition supplies and equipment used in cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Plan, prioritize, and organize work duties.
- Maintain logs on routine maintenance issues.
- Provide information to supervisor(s) and other employees.
- Perform minor maintenance duties as required.
- Set up tables, chairs, and podiums in meeting rooms for special events.
- Assemble tables and miscellaneous furniture upon delivery.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school graduate or GED certified; and
- One year of experience performing maintenance or custodial related duties; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform work.
- Must possess a valid and current driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background investigation, drug test, and physical.
- Must be able to obtain bonding approval from the city's insurance provider.
- Ability to work on call, after hours, weekends, or varying shifts as needed.
