This position monitors, operates, and maintains the company’s boiler and refrigeration equipment, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operation of heating and cooling systems. The role includes routine and preventive maintenance, coordination with B&R Mechanics for larger repairs, and accurate record‑keeping.
Responsibilities- Operate, start, and shut down boiler, refrigeration and auxiliary systems.
- Read meters, gauges, and automated recording devices at specified intervals.
- Record equipment data in daily logs and sheets.
- Adjust automatic or manual controls to maintain prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup systems, or shut down equipment.
- Inspect equipment visually for malfunctions or maintenance needs and take corrective action.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating, tightening, and cleaning.
- Collaborate with B&R Mechanics for larger repairs and updates.
- Document removal, installation, disassembly, repair, and assembly of plant equipment.
- Explain the purpose and operation of all boiler and refrigeration equipment and troubleshoot repairs.
- Update CMMS daily with work order results.
- Perform non‑routine maintenance jobs as assigned and maintain organized work spaces, tools, 5S, and documentation.
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Lock‑out/Tag‑out certification (required).
- Experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environment, especially food processing (highly preferred).
- Ability to pass a Pulmonary Fitness Test annually (SCBA usage).
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Basic math and computer operation skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements.
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance for work at ground level and in high places.
- Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to pass respirator fit test and Pulmonary Fitness Test; lift up to 50 lbs; stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently; work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, slippery, dusty, or fume‑laden environments; work overhead and under equipment; operate at heights via stairs or ladders as needed.
