General Laborer / Packer – Day and Night Shifts
This role supports a high-volume food manufacturing operation by safely and efficiently packaging tortillas, operating packaging equipment, and maintaining strict compliance with food safety and quality standards. You will prepare and run packaging lines, complete changeovers, accurately record production data, and collaborate closely with team members to meet productivity and quality goals on both day and night shifts.

- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to safety initiatives that enhance workplace safety performance.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and company requirements, including SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and other food safety, sanitation, and environmental programs such as Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, and Gluten Free.
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of the products being packed, including product specifications and the correct weight of each tortilla produced.
- Retrieve and review product specifications from the company ERP system to ensure accurate packaging and labeling.
- Identify and understand the specifications of boxes and bags used for each product, ensuring correct packaging materials are used at all times.
- Program date coding machines for bags and boxes according to the daily production rotation and product requirements.
- Prepare the workstation at the start of the shift with all necessary bags, boxes, and materials, ensuring readiness for production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift in accordance with the company's good housekeeping policies and SQF guidelines.
- Follow the production schedule and specifications to meet established productivity and output goals.
- Participate in line rotation as needed throughout the day or workweek, including moving to other lines, assisting co-workers, or cleaning lines during machine downtime or break and lunch coverage.
- Maintain continuous communication with line leaders and machine operators regarding any product deficiencies, such as undercooked or overcooked tortillas, incorrect weights, or size issues, and proactively address concerns.
- Operate packaging equipment including Auto Baggers, Ilapak, and related automated bagging systems in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform complete changeovers in the packaging area, including adjustments to the vision system, counter stacker, auto bagger, bag printer, and weight settings.
- Accurately enter production information into the TGI Machine Log and complete product pathways within the TGI system.
- Record all production downtime in the Machine Log system to support accurate reporting and continuous improvement.
- Retrieve required packaging materials from the warehouse and return unused materials to warehouse storage at the end of each production run.
- Use computers and RF guns proficiently to support inventory, production tracking, and packaging activities.
- Practice continuous rotation within assigned workstations, including packaging tortillas, boxing tortillas, and lifting boxes up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Assist with quality assurance programs, which may include pH verification, participation in the Metal Detection Program, recording pH levels, identifying specification errors related to pH, and performing line quality checks.
- Follow and comply with all SQF requirements, maintaining workstations and documentation in accordance with SQF guidelines.
- Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment by communicating clearly, cooperating with others, and offering help where needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production, quality, and operational goals.
