SummaryThe High‑Bay Freezer (HBF) E&I Technician is responsible for ensuring efficient operation of all electrical and process control instrumentation within the high‑bay freezer and warehouse area. This includes mechanical and general facility maintenance, lubrication, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment. The position requires a full understanding of the purpose and operation of mechanical equipment and the ability to make sound judgments when a situation demands it.
Key Responsibilities- Safety of employees, visitors, and contractors is the number one priority for all workers. This person will help ensure the safe condition of equipment and the facility in accordance with SOPs and company policies.
- Installs, operates, and maintains central process control equipment and instrumentation at a high level of reliability, including programmable controllers, motor controllers and wiring.
- Troubleshoots and makes minor and major repairs of equipment to prevent or minimize downtime.
- Performs a variety of skilled duties such as painting, carpentry, cement masonry, plumbing, drywall and other crafts to maintain and repair company‑owned buildings.
- Ensures that equipment—including batteries, forklifts, chargers, pumps, motors, doors, dock levelers, hydraulic systems, and product transport systems—is properly maintained following company or manufacturer specifications.
- Disassembles and reassembles equipment throughout the warehouse, including motors, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic systems, couplers, alignment systems, and weighing systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery and facilities as required by company and manufacturer standards.
- Maintains all shop inventories, tools and equipment; creates, performs and completes work orders in the system as assigned or needed.
- Identifies parts needed for work, conducts inventory searches and locates parts.
- Documents, monitors, maintains and assists with reporting of shift events, logs predictive maintenance data and assists with work planning using information systems and productivity software.
- Communicates with team members and other support groups in a participative management style conducive to operations goals.
- May assist with training other plant personnel.
- Coordinates or schedules work as required.
- Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operations standards.
- Must supply own tools of the trade.
- Frequently required to lift, stand, walk, twist, bend over or stoop, and crawl on hard surfaces.
- Occasionally required to sit while operating a forklift.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Involves working from heights with fall protection equipment; equipment designed for workers weighing more than 120 lbs. but no more than 350 lbs.
- Must be able to climb up to 12 flights of stairs within the High‑Bay Freezer.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to freezing temperatures.
- Requires ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- Requires ability to work in enclosed, tight spaces.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, technical drawings and manuals.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write correspondences and communicate effectively in one‑on‑one settings and small group situations to customers and clients.
- Idaho Journeyman Electrician License (reciprocal licenses accepted).
