Classification Requirements
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must have Journeyman plumber license or be able to get the license within a year.
- Commercial plumbing systems.
- Current plumbing codes.
- Light construction methods, including HVAC, electrical, and carpentry.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in operation of hand and power tools, plumbing systems, and general building maintenance work.
- Inspecting plumbing systems and identifying issues that need repair or replacement.
- Installing pipes and plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets.
- Repairing or replacing damaged parts in plumbing systems.
- Clearing obstructions from sink drains and toilets.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks such as checking for leaks and maintaining faucets and fixtures.
- Responding to plumbing emergencies promptly and efficiently.
- Interpreting blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.
- Providing cost estimates for plumbing services and products.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and building regulations.
- Maintaining an inventory of plumbing supplies and equipment, scheduling and completing work orders.
- Calibrating pneumatic testing equipment.
- Assembling, positioning, and mounting plumbing equipment, following blueprints.
- Purchasing parts for immediate and future needs, in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Studying specifications in blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals and building plans.
- Estimating amount and kind of materials required and notifying supervisor of the need for materials.
- Initiating communication with supervisor about needed repairs or status of projects.
- Performing maintenance and minor repair on tools and equipment.
- Attending and actively participating in required training classes.
