About the Role

American Rooter & Drain is hiring an Install Helper to support our team with underground and plumbing install projects. You'll work under the direction of an Underground Lead, helping with trenching, site prep, backfill, and cleanup while learning the skills to grow into equipment operation and, eventually, a lead position. No excavation experience is required, just a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

What You'll Do
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
  • Complete work according to company standards and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the team to make sure jobs are completed correctly and on schedule.
  • Support the Underground Lead with trenching, tunneling, and site prep for underground plumbing and drain work.
  • Dig, shovel, and hand-excavate in areas where machinery can't safely reach, especially near buried utilities.
  • Help set up trench safety systems such as shoring, trench boxes, barricades, and signage, and assist with utility locate markings.
  • Assist with pipe handling, bedding material placement, and backfill and compaction.
  • Act as a spotter and signal person when machinery is operating.
  • Help with pre- and post-use checks and basic upkeep of tools and equipment (fluids, grease points, cleaning).
  • Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment on the truck and at the site.
  • Restore the site after the work is done, including cleanup, debris removal, and surface restoration.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers, technicians, and coworkers.
  • Continue developing technical and customer service skills through hands‑on training and mentorship from the Underground Lead.
What You'll Need Required
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid Idaho driver's license and a reliable way to get to the shop or job sites.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including safety rules and work orders.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, including the ability to work a consistent Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM schedule.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Preferred
  • Background in hard labor, the trades, construction, or similar physically demanding work.
