Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary:

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, the position moves our box trucks up to 26 feet and, for CDL Class A, includes tractors and trailer movement. The driver may also assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on‑call part‑time truck driving job that is perfect for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income and looking to work anywhere from 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report any issues to the location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or other damage to the vehicles
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

• 2 years of driving experience required
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
• Valid Class B CDL required (must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in the state of residence)
• CDL Class A license preferred
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Must be self‑motivated, possess customer service skills, and have strong organizational skills and a positive attitude
• English language proficiency required (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• Regulated by the DOT; must maintain a current driver qualification file (annual MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety Performance History from prior employers in the last 3 years). CDL holders will also undergo a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and be subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to travel as necessary, adhere to the required schedule, work at the specified location, complete the Penske employment application, and undergo background investigation and drug screening

• The job requires visual and auditory acuity, including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Duty involves frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting, and using hands to touch, handle, and reach with arms; must regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
• Must legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area
