Instructional Designer (Power Delivery) – Training Support Services Work Location & Schedule

  • Position will fill two roles, one at each of the following sites:
  • APC Training Center – Calera, AL
  • GPC Klondike Training Center – Stonecrest, GA
  • Candidates can indicate preferred location during application process
  • Hybrid work schedule: four days in office, one day remote; occasional adjustments may require additional in‑office time based on business needs
  • No relocation assistance available
  • Travel will be less than 25%
Position Summary

Advance your career as an Instructional Designer supporting our Power Delivery Technical Training teams. In this role, you’ll gain insight into the field job tasks that keep the lights on while partnering with Technical Training Instructors to create impactful learning solutions for our Transmission and Distribution workforce.

You’ll design engaging, accessible, and instructionally sound learning experiences — from instructor‑led materials and job aids to interactive content — that align with established standards and guidelines. As training continues to evolve, you’ll collaborate on innovative solutions and help shape the future of learning for our workforce.

Your work will support knowledge retention, strengthen safety, and build confidence in on‑the‑job application—ultimately driving performance and business results. Working closely with business partners, subject matter experts, and instructors, you’ll turn learning goals into practical, effective training experiences.

Position Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

What You Bring
  • Experience designing training in a technical field such as utilities, construction, or related industrial environment (preferred)
  • Experience partnering with or supporting craft employees (a plus)
  • Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and facilitation—with the ability to present ideas clearly and build relationships
  • Proven ability to manage projects, stay organized, and balance multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
What You’ll Do
  • Design and develop instructor‑led training that is accurate, aligned to learning objectives, and connected across courses
  • Define learner outcomes and create effective learning experiences, including selecting delivery methods and developing supporting materials
  • Manage learning projects from start to finish, meeting timelines and delivering high‑quality results
  • Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to create engaging, effective training
  • Partner with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and instructors to develop content that meets operational needs
  • Ensure learning materials meet accessibility standards and align with technology and system requirements
  • Maintain and update course content, including managing documentation and course files in systems such as Share Point
  • Stay organized and self‑directed while managing priorities with minimal supervision
  • Identify opportunities to improve learning experiences through innovation and continuous improvement
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams, as needed
