Position Title: CNC Machinist (Lathes, Mills & VTL)
Location: Calera, AL, USA Pay: $80,000
Position Status: Full-Time | Contract to Hire
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to support high-precision manufacturing operations in a fast‑paced, safety‑focused environment. This role is ideal for machinists who take pride in craftsmanship, quality, and continuous improvement. The CNC Machinist will operate, set up, and maintain CNC lathes, mills, and VTLs while producing complex components to exact specifications in metal and plastic materials.
You’ll collaborate closely with quality teams and project coordinators to ensure production goals are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Operate CNC lathes, mills, and VTL machines to produce high‑precision components
- Set up machines, load fixtures, change inserts, touch off tools, and run pre‑written CNC programs
- Modify basic G‑code as needed to support machining operations
- Load and unload parts, deburr components, and monitor machine cycles
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications
- Maintain production records, count cards, and documentation
- Perform routine maintenance and fluid level checks on assigned machines
- Support finishing, polishing, and additional machining cell activities as required
- Work closely with quality teams to resolve issues and maintain product standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety, quality, regulatory, and materials‑handling procedures
- Promote a strong safety culture and comply with PPE requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNC Machinist
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or higher in Machining, Manufacturing, or a technical field preferred
- Experience machining complex, high‑precision parts in metal and plastic
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
- Working knowledge of CNC equipment and manual machines
- CAM programming experience preferred
- Basic computer proficiency
- Knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, balance, reach, and sit for extended periods
- Regular lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, and fumes
- Must be able to wear required PPE including steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and masks
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift or overhead crane
- Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as business needs require
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
1st Shift — Monday through Friday
6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
