Environmental Specialist

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for an Environmental
Specialist, with a Science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) or engineering degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry, to fill a contract position in Calera, AL.

• Work safely, identify and implement corrective actions for unsafe working conditions.
• Conduct diverse complex chemical analyses using a variety of laboratory instrumentations and analytical methodologies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write technical documents and analytical procedures and perform advanced analytical testing.
• Ensure analytical methods comply with regulatory and/or customer requirements.
• Establish and evaluate analytical data and process quality control.
• Prioritize and manage daily workloads.
• Maintain analytical instrument performances and monitor supply inventories for assigned methodologies.
• Consistently maintain attention to detail while performing all job duties.
• Maintain excellent lines of communication with co-workers and customers.

• Science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) or engineering degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry.
• Experience utilizing analytical reference methods and instrumentation to perform analyses is preferred.
• Experience with quality control requirements for analytical methods.

• Knowledge in EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods and other reference standards and their application is required.
• Ability to use technical standard operating procedures to perform analyses.
• Ability to interface with a variety of internal/external work groups and customers.
• Demonstrated attention to detail is required.
• Ability to understand technical procedures to evaluate sample data.
• Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues.

• Ability to produce high quality work in an efficient manner.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Customer focus with an enthusiastic, positive attitude.
• Initiative and flexibility as well as personal responsibility.
• Build positive relationships as a team player.
• Motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn.
• Preferred analytical experience working with gas chromatography (GC) instrumentation.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
