About
The Role
Concorde Education is seeking a Band Instructor to lead engaging after-school music programs for students. This role focuses on building foundational musicianship, ensemble skills, and performance confidence through structured, supportive rehearsals.
Programs may include beginner bands, mixed-experience groups, or small ensembles depending on the site. The goal is simple: get students playing together, improving, and enjoying music.
What You’ll Teach
- Students will develop core band and ensemble skills, including:
- Instrument technique and posture
- Reading basic music notation and rhythm
- Listening, timing, and playing as a group
- Following a conductor and rehearsal structure
- Basic scales and ensemble repertoire
- Performance preparation and confidence-building
- Lead structured, engaging rehearsals for small to mid-sized groups
- Support students across varying skill levels and instruments
- Build a positive, inclusive rehearsal environment
- Maintain safe routines for instrument use and classroom management
- Adapt pacing and material to student ability and site needs
- Communicate with site staff and track attendance/session completion
- Prepare students for a simple performance or showcase (when applicable)
- Minimum of 60 college credits
- Experience teaching music, directing ensembles, or giving instrument lessons
- Strong understanding of basic music theory and rehearsal techniques
- Experience working with kids or teens (schools, camps, lessons, etc.)
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Reliable, professional, and comfortable in a school setting
- Music teachers or aspiring educators
- College students (music education, performance, etc.)
- Private lesson instructors or gigging musicians
- Musicians who enjoy working with students and building ensembles
