Job Description
We are seeking a Business Development Consultant to join our team in Calgary.
The Business Consultant is responsible for growing the portfolio of National Enterprise clients in the small to mid-sized market space. The Business Development Consultant is responsible for achieving sales results, finding & qualifying leads and bringing new and existing business opportunities to close.
The Business Development Consultant will:
Lead and manage the overall relationship of a block of clients including strategic consulting advice, service delivery, financial management, plan design, pricing strategies, analyzes trends, negotiate renewals, and benchmarkingDevelop and implement strategies and activities to support client satisfaction and retentionMaintain long term relations with clients, including key decision makers and administrators and ensure relationship continuity when faced with organizational changesManage client expectations and effectively deal with concerns or issues in a highly responsive mannerIdentify the client’s group insurance risks and recommends appropriate plan design and cost mitigation strategiesDevelop annual client plans to ensure clients are receiving value added service and that the work being produced aligns with client goals and objectiveInitiate new business development through cold calling, lead generation and networkingBuild and execute strategic yearly business plans to achieve/exceed targetsAccountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projectsIdentify creative opportunities for growth within client block through multi-product selling and providing enhanced value through unique solution generationActive participation in prospecting for and securing new clients from leads generated through competitive bid sites, targeted proactive networking and referralsManage clients from expected growth from sales teamParticipate in continuing education to maintain a high level of knowledge of employee benefit legislation, administrative issues, plan rules, claim management and client specific proceduresParticipate in industry conferences, seminars, etc. in order to promote services and keep abreast of industry trends and activitiesRepresent People Corporation in the market and be a successful brand ambassadorMaintain an expert knowledge of the complete line of People Corporation products and servicesFoster and develop positive supplier relations to enable strong partnerships for your clientsProvide coaching and mentorship to technical/analyst and service teamsBuild and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, shared services, practice areas, etc. across the organizationTo be successful as a Business Development Consultant with People Corporation, you will need:
Minimum 2-5 years’ progressive experience in group benefits in a client facing or consulting capacity providing strategic and innovative solutions to clients' complex benefits challengesValid and current LLQP (or willingness to obtain)Deep expertise and understanding of the group benefits industry including funding arrangements and flex programsSuperior analytical and mathematical skills, strategic planning, communication, and listening skillsExcellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environmentA positive attitude and strong team player who works well with internal and external stakeholdersA solution and results oriented individual who demonstrates excellent problem solving skillsAbility to meet deadlines and provide deliverables as identified in a timely mannerProficiency and comfort working with multi-channel technologyCompletion of or the ability to complete the Life License Qualification Program (within 90 days of joining)Availability to travel on an as needed basisValid Driver’s License and VehicleGroup Benefits Associate (GBA) or CEBS designation or currently working towards itAll-star candidates will have:
