The OpportunityEmissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) is seeking a motivated and analytically strong student to join our Engagement and Impact teams as an Impact and Communications Intern for the 2026 Summer Term. This role requires strong communication, writing, data analysis, time management, and stakeholder engagement skills. The student will work with the Impact Team to develop thought leadership pieces that demonstrate ERA's impact through funded projects.
They will assist with report generation and translate engagement outcomes into clear, actionable content. The student will also support the Partnerships and Planning Lead with event planning and execution, stakeholder engagement sessions, and stakeholder management. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, has strong communication skills, and is interested in a career in communications or stakeholder engagement.
The student will be a shared resource and report to the Partnerships and Planning Lead and Technology Project Analyst. The student will also work collaboratively with all ERA teams.
Key Accountabilities: Impact Reporting, Analysis, and Content Development- Analyze survey and workshop results to generate thought leadership report content across key technology areas within ERA’s portfolio.
- Coordinate review cycles with internal and external subject matter experts.
- Capture and synthesize insights from impact workshops, including agenda development and post-workshop summaries.
- Translate technical information from ERA-funded projects or impact workshop outcomes into clear, audience‑appropriate communication materials.
- Support the planning and execution of in‑person and virtual engagement sessions (interviews, round tables, and large group consultations) related to targeted funding calls and ERA’s Technology Roadmap.
- Develop event plans, research and organize stakeholder lists, and draft invitations.
- Support day‑of event coordination and post‑engagement reporting.
- Assist with stakeholder data collection, organization, and migration to a new stakeholder management platform.
All activities involve coordinating between ERA teams, meeting management, agenda development, file cleanup, document formatting/editing, writing content and speaking notes.

- Communicates professionally and confidently with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative information, identify key themes, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Ability to manage timelines, competing priorities, and dependencies while maintaining high‑quality outputs.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Commerce, Energy, Sciences, Management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience working with structured data and/or visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, or executive‑ready materials.
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Copilot) and collaborative workshop platforms (e.g., MIRO) is an asset.
- Previous experience supporting stakeholder engagement initiatives is considered an asset. Experience supporting stakeholder engagement, research projects, or event coordination (asset).
