Surface Land Administrator
The Position
Our Asset Management Business Unit is growing. Our Asset Management Business Unit manages the engineering, production operations, liability closures, accounting, land, HSE and regulatory oversight of junior to mid-sized E&P companies ranging from 100 to 8,000 BOE per day.
Sproule ERCE is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and proficient intermediate Surface Land Administrator to join our Asset Management (AM) team. This role supports Sproule ERCE across multiple clients by supporting the various tasks of regular operations of the surface land department and executing on a road use project.
Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Head of Land and under the direction of the Senior Surface Land Coordinator, responsibilities will include:
- Road Use Project Management: execute the full-scope review, assessment, tracking, updating, agreement generation, reporting, and maintenance of a comprehensive client road use project.
- Management and issuing of road use invoicing billing cycles and coding, both incoming and outgoing.
- Review and reconciliation of road use billing issues and payee disputes.
- Assessment and issuing of replacement road use agreements on existing assets.
- Management of third-party requests through Tressl.
- Processing and closing monthly obligation reports.
- Maintain surface land files and electronic land databases for Sproule ERCE and its clients.
- Ensure surface land supporting documentation is timely and accurately processed.
- Prepare surface land reports.
- Analyze and assess problematic or cleanup surface issues for successfully resolved outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant provincial policies, regulations, and laws governing land acquisition and licensing.
- Conduct surface related due diligence, title reviews and curative work for A&D projects as required.
- Develop, communicate and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Senior Surface Land Coordinator.
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant surface land experience.
- Post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in Land or related field an asset.
- Land broker/service company experience considered an asset.
- Member of LEMAC or CALEP considered an asset.
- Commission for Oaths for Alberta considered an asset.
- Strong in-depth understanding of road use agreements, acquisition, billing structures and invoicing, maintenance, and management of both new road use acquisitions and existing road use holdings is a requirement of this position.
- Administration experience dealing with Freehold, Crown and IOGC Lands.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable acts, guides and regulations and a strong. understanding of surface land processes and requirements.
- Proficient in CS Explorer, Pandell and other common land databases.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Accumap, Aba Data, ETS, Spin2, One Stop and Tressl.
- Strong Microsoft 365 Office proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SharePoint and data management systems is a strong asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
