Are you ready to help shape the continued growth of the Firebag SAGD asset? We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Specialist – Projects Advisor to support upcoming Firebag growth projects. You will play a key role in helping integrate future project scopes into the existing Firebag operation. In this dynamic role, you will apply a Ready for Operations mindset while supporting project activities from early concept development through execution, commissioning and start-up, and final closeout.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A Power Engineering Certificate, Trade Certification, or a relevant Degree, combined with a minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in SAGD plant operations
  • Previous site experience at Firebag is preferred and will be regarded as a significant asset
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting or leading Readiness for Operations (RFO) activities on Capital Projects, Commissioning and Start‑up (C&SU), or other relevant project phases is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, operational integration, and business readiness principles
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical documentation and translate complex information into actionable operational plans
  • Proven capacity to operate effectively within cross‑functional teams, providing leadership through influence and fostering collaboration toward shared objectives
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to interface confidently with both technical and non‑technical audiences
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the readiness of Firebag growth projects utilizing OEMS, especially the Develop and Manage Projects (DAMP) process
  • Interface with the existing Firebag asset to understand the site integration and bring forward lessons learned
  • Collaborate with integrated teams to meet business objectives
  • Detailed project planning with a focus on Operations, Maintenance and Reliability deliverables
  • Interface with EPC’s and project stakeholders to meet desired project outcomes
  • Provide support to the Production Unit teams to align on project scope and final deliverables
  • Development and execution of a Ready for Operations (RFO) plan through each stage of the project
  • Collaborate with the Commissioning and Start-up (C&SU) team to meet all Ready for Operation (RFO) deliverables. This includes but not limited to developing Operations Procedures and Training Plans
  • Responsible for assigned scope management, including but not limited to safety, project deliverables, cost, quality assurance, and schedule
  • Identify risks associated with project scope of work- define solutions to mitigate these risks
  • Actively execute assigned work as authorized by the Delegation of Authority limits
