About CHHC

Canada Hibernia Holding Corporation (CHHC) is a federal Crown corporation and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDEV), a federal parent Crown corporation. CHHC’s mandate is to manage the Government of Canada’s non-operated ownership interests in the Hibernia Project, which is an oil development and production platform located 315 kilometers offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. CHHC has minority working interests but plays an active role in the Hibernia Project.

CHHC’s responsibilities are to maximize shareholder value through the exploration, development, production and marketing of crude oil from the Hibernia Project. CHHC is a small company of 7 employees with its office located in Calgary.

About Hibernia

The Hibernia Project is a joint venture with six owners in the main Hibernia Development Project area and seven owners in the Hibernia Southern Extension Unit project area. Hibernia is operated by Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. (HMDC) which is based in St. John’s, NL and staffed by Exxon Mobil personnel (Exxon Mobil is the largest owner in Hibernia). Hibernia () is a world class offshore oilfield that produces approximately 90,000 barrels of oil per day (CHHC working interest 7,000 bopd) with more than 20 years of expected life remaining.

Position Overview

CHHC is hiring a full-time Business Analyst to join its small team of professionals in Calgary. The position is ideal for someone with 1-5 years of related experience with a business degree and who is detail oriented, flexible, willing to learn, advance their career, and work with senior management.

The position provides a learning opportunity by exposure to the crude oil marketing and transportation, strategic, financial, technical and commercial aspects of the company’s offshore oil asset. Responsibilities include managing crude oil tanker transportation and sales administration; forecasting production, cargo lifts, and sales volumes; coordinating I.T. services; conducting economic evaluations; and overseeing contract management activities. Additionally, the role is responsible for maintaining financial and operational models that inform strategy and decision making.

The Business Analyst will report to the Director, Marketing & Transportation, but will also work with and provide support to the VP Operations and President & CFO. The position is based in CHHC’s office in downtown Calgary, currently with a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the various scheduling programs (Excel) for production, sales volume forecasting and monitoring accuracy and sequencing of production entitlements and lifting schedules.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of crude shipments and sales for each transaction, ensuring easy access for audit purposes. Coordinate with third party service providers for documentation as needed.
  • Monitor sales volumes and payment forecasts for cash flow projections; verify sales contract receipts and inventory of crude oil, both offshore and onshore.
  • Verify crude tanker invoices and annual long-term forecasts of crude tanker costs.
  • Maintain Platts crude oil pricing records.
  • Perform market performance analysis on crude pricing as requested by management from time to time. Conduct research and analysis of oil market data and trends.
  • Participate in the offshore basin’s transportation and transshipment group meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various third parties who support the marketing, transportation, and transshipment functions.
  • Maintain the company’s economic model (Excel) and provide results as requested for corporate planning and evaluations; maintain multiple planning economic scenarios.
