Position: Home Visitor (Part-Time)

About Us

Closer to Home Community Services (CTH) is a non‑profit organization in Alberta since 1995 providing services to children, youth and families and working to ensure every child thrives within supportive community relationships.

Position Overview

The Part‑Time Home Visitor (24 hours per week) supports families with children aged 0‑6 who self‑refer to the home visitation program through the Family Resource Network.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and support the emotional needs of families.
  • Provide support to families in homes and other settings, helping them learn skills such as problem‑solving, child development, parenting, budgeting, conflict management and cultural connection.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, evaluating and redesigning family goal plans in cooperation with families.
  • Promote self‑esteem and self‑reliance among family members.
  • Provide culturally‑sensitive informational materials on parenting, child development and related skills.
  • Assist families in successfully meeting their goals.
  • Complete paperwork, tools and goal plans efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements; report hazards and injuries to immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
  • A diploma or degree in a related field and/or prior experience working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Completion of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and an Intervention Record Check before commencement.
  • Understanding of child development, parent‑child relationships and family dynamics.
  • Use of a personal vehicle for work‑related purposes; must provide proof of Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence, a personal vehicle, a clean 3‑year driver’s abstract, and agree to maintain 2 million liability insurance on the vehicle and consent to annual abstract review. Mileage reimbursed per CRA guidelines and CTH policy.

The Pay Range For This Role Is 30,780 – 30,780 CAD per year (Calgary & Land).
