Director of Treasury
A Calgary-based organization is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Treasury to join its finance leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for providing enterprise-wide leadership over the company’s treasury activities, with a strong focus on capital strategy, financing execution, and liquidity management. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of capital markets, demonstrated execution experience, and the ability to communicate complex financial strategies clearly to executive leadership.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Lead sourcing, structuring, and execution of debt financing (CMHC‑insured and conventional), optimizing loan sizing and cost of capital
  • Manage mortgage portfolio lifecycle, including compliance, renewals/refinancing, maturity ladder, and annual lender/CMHC reviews
  • Maintain relationship and application processes with CMHC; stay current on CMHC policies and requirements
  • Monitor market conditions, rate outlook, spreads, and refinancing risk; recommend proactive treasury actions
  • Manage lender and advisor relationships, including appraisers, lawyers, consultants, and third‑party reports (Appraisal, BCA, ESA, QS)
  • Oversee corporate liquidity, cash forecasting, working capital optimization, and credit facility availability and covenants
  • Support acquisitions, developments, dispositions, FP&A financing forecasts, and MD&A disclosures related to debt and liquidity
  • Administer treasury operations and programs, including cash movements and the Nunavut land lease program
  • Your strengths include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • CFA, CPA, and/or MBA viewed as an asset
  • Experience in real estate finance, treasury, or capital markets
  • Strong knowledge of debt structuring and CMHC‑insured financing
  • Ability to evaluate capital structures at a portfolio level with solid macroeconomic insight
  • Demonstrated success executing complex financing transactions
  • Effective negotiator with lenders and financial counterparties
  • Clear communicator with senior executives, lenders, and key stakeholders; familiarity with treasury management systems
