Trans Mountain Corporation seeks a Cost Allocation Financial Analyst (contract, 6 months, full‑time, in‑office, Calgary Head Office) reporting to the Director of Finance. The role supports budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision‑making by maintaining and optimizing the organization’s cost allocation model and ensuring accurate assignment of shared services, overhead, and operational costs across projects and business units.
Key Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and enhance cost allocation models for budget and forecast cycles.
Process monthly cost allocations and prepare journals, including allocation splits and project IDs.
Analyze cost trends, variances, and allocation impacts to support budgeting and forecasting.
Prepare the annual true‑up of actual cost allocations using incurred costs and hours.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data; collaborate with data owners to resolve discrepancies.
Prepare monthly and ad hoc allocation reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
Ensure allocation methodologies align with internal policies, audit requirements, and industry standards.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
Post‑secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or related field.
3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, FP&A, or similar roles.
Strong understanding of cost allocation methodologies.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems such as Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
Experience working with large datasets and translating complex financial concepts into clear insights.
Experience in shared services environments or multi‑entity organizations.
Knowledge of D365, SQL, Power Query, or other data‑manipulation tools.
Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting cycles.
Ability to influence stakeholders and drive process improvements.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and judgment skills in time‑constrained, execution‑driven environments.
Track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.
