Peoples Group is seeking a dynamic business development professional to join our Real Estate Finance team based in Calgary. This role focuses on CMHC-insured and conventional multi-family construction financing across Western Canada, leveraging an extensive Broker network and direct borrower relationships.

About the role:
You are a passionate, solution and goal-oriented team player with excellent communication skills. You have a thorough understanding of both conventional and CMHC-insured commercial mortgage financing across various real estate asset classes in the Western Canada market. You deliver exceptional customer service and take pleasure in building strong relationships with commercial brokers and direct borrowers.
You will assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to grow the Peoples Trust CMHb loan portfolio. Your responsibilities will include managing and strengthening client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and coordinating with internal teams to meet client expectations and achieve company results. You prioritize compliance and risk management, paying close attention to detail while keeping a strategic, big-picture perspective in your time management.

Experience in CMHC-insured commercial mortgage financing with a focus on MLI Select construction.Conventional commercial mortgage financing experience with a focus on construction would be an asset.A client-first mindset, delivering exceptional service to brokers and borrowers.Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.A balance of detail orientation and big-picture thinking, with a focus on compliance and risk management.You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are excited to contribute to the growth of our commercial real estate lending portfolio.
About the day-to-day Responsibilities
:
Loan Origination and Underwriting: Manage the origination and underwriting of CMHC insured financing proposals for both construction and term mortgages.Application Preparation: Assist in the preparation of internal credit submissions to Credit Risk.Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership and direction to Real Estate Associates, Analysts, and Coordinators.Collaboration with Mortgage Administration and Servicing: Work closely with the Commercial Mortgage Funding Team and external legal counsel to ensure efficient funding of all assigned loans.Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the Regional Vice President and business development colleagues to drive the success of the Real Estate Finance group in Western Canada.Strategic Business Development: Engage in active marketing and business development efforts to consistently grow the CMHC insured mortgage portfolio.Credit Management: Work closely with Credit Risk to monitor the commercial mortgage portfolio and identify and effectively manage special loans. Review appraisals and environmental reports in accordance with internal credit policy. Manage a portfolio of CMHC insured construction loans to completion and term takeout.Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or CFA preferredMinimum 2 years CMHC-insured commercial mortgage and conventional lending experienceKnowledge of AML and KYC requirementsProven ability to generate sales and manage market developmentExceptional relationship development skillsStrong interpersonal, organizational and time management skillsAbility to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environmentExcellent communication skillsAbout us:
