Calgary Health Foundation is looking a strategic and hands‑on Financial Controller to lead financial operations and support organizational decision‑making. Reporting to the CFO, this role oversees financial reporting, planning, and controls while partnering with leadership to drive performance, sustainability, and growth.
Key Responsibilities- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis, acting as a collaborative business partner to leaders throughout the organization
- Deliver accurate financial reports, Board packages, and regulatory filings
- Oversee audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and support investments
- Strengthen internal controls, risk management, and financial processes
- Optimize financial systems and drive efficiency improvements
- Lead and develop finance team; oversee accounting operations (GL, AP, payroll review)
The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting and financial management, with direct experience overseeing general ledger functions, financial reporting, and budgeting. Possessing in‑depth knowledge of compliance regulations, audit processes, and financial systems, and a proven track record of developing and implementing effective internal controls, the successful incumbent will utilize their strong leadership and communications skills to manage and develop a finance team with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
Qualifications- CPA designation required;
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - 8+ years of progressive finance experience
- 3+ years leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of Canadian not‑for‑profit accounting standards considered an asset
- Experience with Financial Edge NXT or similar systems
- Proven ability to deliver insights and drive process improvements
It is expected that the starting salary for this position will be in the range of $120,000 to $130,000, aligned with the successful candidate's experience and skill set.
It is expected that interviewing will take place over the summer and the anticipated start date will be sometime in September.
