Director, Valuation & Advisory Services
Overview
The Director will be a key member of the Valuation & Advisory Services team, responsible for delivering appraisal reports, market studies, consulting assignments, and portfolio valuations. Working closely with senior leadership, the role involves managing complex engagements, building and maintaining client relationships, and supporting business development initiatives. The Director will also mentor emerging professionals and leverage advanced internal technology platforms to enhance the quality, efficiency, and insight of valuation deliverables.
Responsibilities- Prepare appraisal reports
- Provide consistent mentorship, guidance and feedback to Valuation Associates working under your supervision
- Conduct property inspections as needed
- Develop and maintain client relationships on an ongoing basis
- Write reports and communicate effectively in oral and written formats; exhibit continuous learning aptitude
- Self‑motivate and manage competing priorities while ensuring an uncompromised high‑caliber work product for clients
- Collaborate with team members to meet objectives and deadlines
- Deliver uncompromised, high‑quality reports to clients under strict deadlines
- Handle difficult or sensitive issues tactfully and effectively
- Pay strong attention to detail
- Stay abreast of industry trends and developments, proactively bringing new ideas and solutions to the business
- Travel as reasonably required by the Company
- Comply with all Avison Young policies and procedures, including ethics and business practice
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, or a combination of relevant work experience and education
- Post‑secondary education in a relevant functional area (e.g., Bachelor of Commerce, MBA, or similar)
- AACI designation, in good standing with the Appraisal Institute of Canada
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Highly organized with strong analytical skills
- Understanding of the market, appraisal process, and commercial real estate industry
- Ability to communicate complex valuation matters and issues clearly and concisely
- Pay strong attention to detail and handle sensitive issues tactfully
- Skilled at multitasking and excelling both as a team player and an independent worker
- Respect the confidentiality of clients and information, maintaining a professional and confidential manner
