Financial Planner – Wellington‑Altus, Calgary
We are looking for a Financial Planner to support the Senior Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager in delivering personalized financial planning and relationship management to a growing client base.
Key Responsibilities- Meet with clients to understand their financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment preferences.
- Prepare and maintain financial plans for clients ranging from simple to complex needs.
- Identify and implement insurance planning opportunities, including placing new insurance business and managing policy conversions.
- Provide customized planning deliverables and client materials related to financial planning topics.
- Conduct client meetings to discuss financial plans, investment strategies, and life‑stage considerations.
- Serve as a trusted resource for clients, offering guidance on evolving financial needs.
- Collaborate closely with the lead advisor to complement existing and new relationships and ensure seamless communication within the team.
- Proactively identify opportunities to grow the client base and support advisors in developing proposals for prospective clients.
- Assist in onboarding new clients and ensuring a smooth transition into the team’s service model.
- Maintain and update client files, CRM data, and account documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare reports, insurance summaries, and meeting materials for advisors.
- Handle scheduling, follow‑ups, and general correspondence with professionalism.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field; equivalent work experience is acceptable.
- 3–5 years of experience in the financial services industry in a high‑growth environment.
- 3+ years of experience in a customer/client‑service facing role.
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation (required). Other professional designations such as TEP or CLU are beneficial.
- LLQP license preferred; willingness and ability to complete licensing requirement acceptable.
- Current Alberta insurance licenses for Life and Accident & Sickness.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Experience with financial planning and modelling software (Conquest preferred).
- Familiarity with insurance carrier quoting software and generating illustrations for new and in‑force business.
- Comfortable incorporating AI into workflows.
- Strong understanding of personal financial planning principles and nuances when planning for executives and owner‑managed businesses.
- Demonstrated accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in achieving day‑to‑day and long‑term goals.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. A satisfactory background check may be required prior to commencing employment.
