The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Crude Oil Trading the successful candidate will play a key role in integrating and growing Gibson Energy’s Canadian Supply & Trading business while supporting the company’s expanding infrastructure platform.

This role is suited to trader with strong Canadian crude oil market knowledge and industry relationships. The successful candidate will be accountable for generating earnings while managing portfolio risk within established corporate guidelines and contributing to the strategic growth of Canadian Infrastructure.

What You'll Do
  • Execute and manage crude oil purchases, sales, and exchanges across physical and financial markets.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies (daily, monthly, and long-term) aligned to market conditions and corporate objectives.
  • Integrate and profitably grow the Canadian trading portfolio in strategically aligned markets.
  • Maintain deep market knowledge of North American crude oil fundamentals and market dynamics.
  • Collaborate with Sales Origination, Lease Purchasing, Logistics, Business Development and Fundamentals teams to support commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with internal credit and risk management policies.
  • Track and report inventory positions accurately to Risk Management teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key market counter parties.
  • Coordinate with Logistics and Accounting to deliver accurate monthly P&L reporting.
  • Support month-end close processes and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to support trading decisions and business insights.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to the Role
  • University degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of industry experience and expertise.
  • 10+ years of experience in crude oil trading, or a related commercial function.
  • Deep understanding of North American physical crude markets, including key hubs such as Permian, Cushing, and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Proven ability to generate earnings while managing portfolio risk within established guidelines.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical capability, decision-making judgment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing market conditions and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-directed, accountable, and able to contribute effectively within a high-performing team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
