Role Overview
The Senior Consultant plays a key role in delivering high‑quality investment consulting services to institutional clients,including pension plans, endowments, and other fiduciaries. Working closely with Principals and Partners, as well as junior
Analysts, the Senior Consultant supports client relationships, contributes to investment analysis and recommendations, andtakes increasing ownership of client deliverables and projects. This role is suited to a professional with strong analytical capability, sound investment knowledge, and demonstrated experience working with institutional investment programs who is ready to deepen their consulting expertise and client exposure.
- Support ongoing client relationships by contributing to meeting preparation, materials, and follow‑up
- Participate in client meetings and, over time, present analysis and recommendations alongside senior team members
- Conduct investment performance analysis, risk analysis, and peer benchmarking across asset classes, investment policy reviews,asset allocation studies, and portfolio structure analysis
- Participate in investment research, assisting with investment manager searches, ongoing monitoring, including qualitative and quantitative assessments, documentation, and maintenance of internal databases
- Draft clear, concise client reports and presentations tailored to audience sophistication
- Review work prepared by Analysts for accuracy, consistency, and relevance
- Manage assigned work streams within client engagements and special projects
- Coordinate with colleagues across investment consulting, actuarial, and broader consulting teams when applicable
- Continue developing investment and consulting expertise through formal training and practical experience
- Stay current on capital markets, manager trends, governance practices, and regulatory considerations
- Contribute to internal initiatives, thought leadership, and process improvement efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field
- Typically ~10 years of experience in investment consulting, asset management, pension consulting, or a related institutional investment role
- Solid understanding of institutional investment portfolios, asset classes, and performance measurement
- Progress toward, or completion of, a professional designation such as CFA is an asset
- Experience working with pension plans, endowments, or fiduciary investment arrangements is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to synthesize complex investment information into clear, decision‑useful insights
- Professional communication skills – written and verbal – with developing confidence presenting to clients
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and mentor junior colleagues
