Raymond James, Canada’s leading independent investment dealer, is seeking Financial/Investment Advisors who are keen to develop their career at one of our branch locations through our Advisor Internship Program (AIP). The AIP is a comprehensive 36‑month career development training program designed to provide an opportunity for individuals who have been in the financial services industry for at least 3 years to build and grow their own successful advisory practice.
Candidates will join the firm as a Financial Advisor and will be responsible for building their own book of business.
- Provide clients with advice on financial matters with a total wealth management perspective.
- Build relationships with high net worth individuals and families through prospecting methods including outbound calling, social media, in‑person networking, webinars and seminars, direct mail campaigns and other sales and marketing methods.
- Understand client needs and provide appropriate options and solutions.
- Grow assets under administration by $8‑10 million in each of the first, second, and third years while servicing existing clients.
New advisors should aim to grow their assets under administration by $8–10 million in each of year one, two and three, in addition to meeting asset‑gathering minimums for each year.

- University degree and/or related working experience in business, finance, economics, or commission sales.
- Minimum of 4 years full‑service brokerage and/or financial industry related experience.
- Must be registered (or eligible to be re‑registered) with CIRO in Province of Residence as of date of hire.
- Registered Representative licensed.
- Experience using various prospecting methods to gain appointments.
- Knowledge of investment products and services.
- Proven finance, sales and entrepreneurial skills in an advice capacity to persons of influence.
- Excellent interpersonal/relationship building skills.
- Well‑developed presentation skills to convey factual and conceptual information and ideas.
- Attendance and successful completion of the AIP training program and classroom session(s) upon hire.
- Fulfillment of CIRO continuing education requirements on an ongoing basis.
Effective January 2026, CIRO has implemented new licensing requirements. The following criteria are mandatory for all applicants:
- Eligibility to become a Registered Representative (RR).
- If not currently CIRO‑licensed, must meet one of the following prerequisites: a university diploma in a relevant field; and/or a minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience.
These requirements are mandatory. If you do not meet CIRO’s eligibility criteria, you cannot become licensed and therefore will not qualify for an interview.
CIRO Exams and ApplicationApplicants who meet the prerequisites must successfully complete both of the following CIRO exams before their first day of employment:
- CIFF / CPH equivalent (CIRE).
- RSE (Regulatory Standards Exam).
The firm must submit the CIRO registration application on the employee’s first day of employment.
Post‑Approval Course Requirements for New‑to‑Industry Candidates- MCT Course – must be completed within 30 days of CIRO approval.
- DMT Course – must be completed within 90 days of CIRO approval.
- Successful completion of the 90‑Day IIROC Licensing Training Program (valid & completed within the last 2 years).
- Comfortable working within a fully commissioned environment and meeting targets.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet multiple and conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to learn quickly and make sound, timely decisions.
- Successful completion of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or equivalent is an asset.
Salary Range: $60,000 + annually, in addition to commission. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and other job requirements.
