Level EC-05, NB-09 - The CER has a classification system that differs from the greater public service. This NEB-09 position is similar to an EC-05 in terms of salary range only.

Duties The Economic & Financial Analyst uses knowledge of economic, financial, accounting and auditing principles and practices to assess a variety of economic and financial issues related to the energy industry. With coaching and mentoring from more senior professionals as required, the Economic & Financial Analyst reviews applications filed under the Canada Energy Regulator Act with respect to pipeline facilities, tolls, and other economic, and financial matters and provides advice to Commissioners and staff.

The Economic and Financial Analyst performs analysis related to financial regulatory compliance activities, including with respect to the CER’s oversight of pipeline financial resources and abandonment and reclamation funding. The Economic & Financial Analyst is expected to work on several concurrent assignments at any given time. The duties may include acting as a project coordinator on routine applications and projects.

Participation in a financial audit team may be required. The Economic & Financial Analyst maintains current knowledge of proposed and approved amendments to the legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards of the CER. There may be a requirement to conduct special studies in areas of concern to the CER within their specific area of expertise. The Economic & Financial Analyst will report to the Director, Tolls and Tariffs Compliance Team, Energy Adjudication Business Unit.

  • Annual performance pay which includes elements of individual performance and corporate performance.
  • Annual market allowance which applies only to specified operational positions; the allowance is paid in a single annual payment.
