Job Description:

Investment and Corporate Banking, Capital Markets, Interest Rate, Currency and Derivative Products. TD Securities works with clients around the world, and our services include the underwriting and distribution of new debt and equity issues, providing advice on strategic acquisitions and divestitures, and executing daily trading and investment needs.

The position operates directly on the trading desk, managing daily scheduling and cash trading responsibilities. The role requires strong commercial judgment, operational expertise, and deep understanding of the AECO physical natural gas market. Developing relationships with North American pipelines, storage operators, and our clients to ensure natural gas flows are accurate, timely and cost-effective each day is a must. The role requires working on a trading floor in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with both trading and sales.

The team is responsible for timely and accurate submission of data to the respective systems and market operators.

The successful candidate will develop expertise and proficiency on Natural Gas infrastructure and provide traders and sales teams with timely and accurate market data. As well, they will provide logistics comments in a variety of areas including new trade ideas, system enhancements, and contract language. They must also ensure counter party positions reflect internal trading positions and remedy any discrepancies, working closely with accounting and invoicing.

You will be required to monitor real-time curtailments and book representative trades to properly reflect trade economics. We are looking for a proactive team player who takes ownership and accountability of projects, has strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Liaising with Legal, Compliance, Credit, Technology, Tax, Insurance, Regulatory Reporting and relevant external bodies may be required and is certainly suggested.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Relevant experience in physical natural gas trading & scheduling
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity, honesty and professionalism
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Strong team player; ability to act as a strong a strong partner and collaborator with the energy team, sharing market information and solving complex problems
  • Ability to act as a liaison between various parties
  • Proactive, self-starting individual with high levels of ownership. Highly motivated and ability to coach others in technical areas and problem solving. Demonstrate strong business analytical skills, problem solving abilities, initiative and creativity
  • Aptitude for building relationships and ability to communicate complex issues to a wide array of internal and external clients with differing levels of product experience.
  • Ability to operate under pressure addressing time sensitive accountabilities in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to operate independently with sound judgement without supervision required
  • Strong proficiency in use of MS Excel, Bloomberg as well as other MS Office products
  • Contribute to pipeline statement and accounting reconciliation
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays on a three-person rotation; availability during evenings may also be required
  • Experience working in trading environment and / or on natural gas scheduling systems
  • Any prior experience of Middle Office, Settlements, Documentation, or Commodities more broadly will be considered a plus.
